The trip starts by going through the campsite at Skarstad.

Directions

Take the E6 between Narvik and Skarberget. On the north side of the Efjord (17 km from Skarberget and 60, 1 km from Narvik) you drive onto Efjordveien.

Follow Efjordveien to the campsite at Skarstad (14.8 km).

Tour description

The first part of the trip is over flat terrain. Afterwards it goes steadily upwards and you mostly walk on rocks. It is an easy terrain to walk in, and the trail is well marked with white rings painted on rocks. About. 350 meters from the top of the mountain you come to a stone cairn with a mailbox with a book in which you can write your name.

Highlights of the Trip

The landscape in this area is a little different than elsewhere in the region because there is little forest and a lot of bare mountains. This means that you start to get a view early in the trip. A view that only gets better and better the further up the mountain you get.

To the north you see large parts of the Ofotfjord from Evenes to Lødingen, and further out the Vestfjord towards Lofoten. Myklebostad on Tjeldøya is located on the other side of Ofotfjorden just north of Skarstadfjellet.

Difficulty and recommended use of time

The trip takes about 1.5 hours from the start to the top of Skarstadfjellet (Litletinden). The distance is 3.2 km one way, and the height difference is about 520 meters. It is not a particularly difficult trip, but it is 2 km where it only goes uphill. But we are used to that from trips here in the region, and that's a bit of the point of the trip! & # 128521;
