The start of the hike is at the end of the road at Stave.

Directions

Drive south along Fylkesvei 82 out of Andenes. Take on county road 976 towards Andøya Space Center. Follow the road past Bleik to Stave. Take off county 976 at Stave, and drive into Stave and until the road ends. Total distance is approx. 21 km.

Tour description

To get from Stave to Høyvika you have to cross a small mountain pass (about 90 m above sea level) and through a scree. The distance from parking to the beach is approximately 1.2 km.

Highlights of the trip

Høyvika is located to the west and therefore has a lot of sunshine. The beach has coral sand and is about 1 km long. Just behind the beach reach the mountain steeply up to the sky. And between the mountains and the sea lies a beautiful plain with lush grass. Here walks some sheep and pastures throughout the summer.

The place is very scenic and is an excellent place for both swimming and accommodation in tents.

Difficulty and time use

The trip is a bit demanding and does not suit those who are a bit unsteady or have problems with their feet, since they have to climb over and around big stones. Children can go this trip.

In the airline the distance is not large, but due to the terrain, the trip from the parking lot to the beach takes about 1 hour.
